Dr Kien Tran and Thusithanjana Thilakarathna
RCCIS is proud to be able to provide the funding to Kien Tran in his research project, Cybersickness Assessment in Virtual Reality (VR).
Cybersickness is a common side effect experienced in VR games and applications, primarily caused by sensory conflicts. Assessing the impact of this phenomenon remains an ongoing area of research. Existing solutions often face limitations, being either offline or disruptive due to the need for users to report symptoms during gameplay. This project aims to develop an efficient self-reporting system that allows VR users to indicate their sickness levels in real time, with minimal disruption to their immersive experience.
The user survey will involve each participant playing a short VR game and self-reporting their sickness level using the developed system.
RCCIS will allocate funds towards research assistant hours to assist with 3D design and printing of the device, as well as Koha for the study participants.
